US HISTORY I:
Textbook Entry - Read a primary source document or account about an event from the Abolitionist period. Based on the reading, draft an entry that will be included in the updated edition in our textbook Summarize the event in your own words, explain its significance, include images to support and include a portion of the source along with two questions to reinforce it. For examples see book. This is accomplished easiest using Microsoft Publisher, but use what you can.
OR
Debate Poster - Create a poster in which you advertise a debate between important abolitionist and anti-abolitionist figures. Identify at least two (2) individuals on each
side of the debate, as well as a brief biography for each, highlighting
significant events and contributions during his/her lifetime.
US HISTORY II:
Jazz Song - Choose a jazz song which you feel discusses
historical problems faced by African-Americans living in 1900’s America. Provide the lyrics for this song. Then, in a
Five Paragraph paper state your rationale for choosing this song and how the lyrics
indicate/relate to the struggle faced by African-Americans. What was the overall mood of the song? Was it created to bring hope or to serve as a
way for them to share stories about their hardships faced? If applicable, explain how the Civil Rights
movement addressed these hardships.
OR
Modern African American Figure - Research to find about the life of an
African-American living after the Civil Rights Movement. Then explain what life was like for this
individual. What hardships did he/she
face, how was he/she treated as compared to slaves and free Americans, and what
was his/her overall quality of life?
