Black History Month Blog Assignments
For the entire Month, every Monday there will be a new assignment given. There will be two assingments provided, you will have your choice of completing only one of them. US History I:
Compare and Contrast - Compare and contrast Abraham Lincoln and
Fredrick Douglass. Be sure to include an
analysis of each of the abolitionist’s methods, what each achieved, the
struggles each faced, and your overall personal reaction to both men’s
contributions to the abolitionist movement. This Response should be in a Graphic Organizer yet compare all aspects mentioned in full responses.
OR
Biography - Research to find about the life of an
African-American living before the Civil War who was NOT a slave. Then in a Five Paragaraph essayexplain what life was like for this
individual. What hardships did he/she
face, how was he/she treated as compared to slaves and free Americans, and what
was his/her overall quality of life?
US History II:
Debate Poster - Create a poster in which you display information
about important Civil Rights and anti-Civil Rights figures. Identify at least two (2) individuals on each
side of the debate, as well as a brief biography for each, highlighting
significant events and contributions during his/her lifetime.
OR
Textbook Entry - Read a primary source document or account about
an event from the Civil Rights period.
Based on the reading, draft an entry that will be included in the
updated edition in our textbook Summarize the event in your own words, explain
its significance, include images to support and
include a portion of the source along with two questions to reinforce it. For examples see book. This is accomplished easiest using Microsoft Publisher, but use what you can.
